   甲骨文要与腰为同一字。象女人叉腰之形。会意腰部为重要之处。《说文》注:“身中也。象人要(腰)自臼之形。从臼,交省声。”要指人体胁下胯上之腰部。引申重要。此处只用作动词,指要求。又指要挟,即有所恃而强行要求或威胁对方。
