中国有56个民族，建国前有文字的民族有18个，建国后新创文字的民族是8个。汉字是全国的通用文字，统称中文。

私 私是会意字，也是形声字。厶义为私利，又指自己经营。禾为形符；厶为声符。《说文》有二注：1“厶，奸邪也。韩非曰：仓颉作字，自营为私。”厶为私之本字。厶是奸宄邪行以图谋个人利益。韩非子说：仓颉造字时，用一画自己环绕成圆，表示厶。私就以自我为中心，画一个圆向外伸出一个手，以求私己之利。2 私之另一注释是：“禾也。从禾，厶声。北道名禾主人，曰私主人。”私为禾名，北方称庄稼主人为私主人，泛指财物归属个人。私与“公”相对。私指个人、个人的。引申私心、私利、暗地、私下、私有、不公开、不合法等。
