甲骨文象幼儿或胎儿之形。《说文》注：“四月阳气已出，万物皆成文章，故巳为蛇。象形。”按甲骨文巳为未成之胎儿形。因胎儿未成将成，故有“似”之含义。巳借用作地支第六位。巳时指上午9—11时。
